When you’re in the business of bringing primary healthcare to patients who have difficulty leaving their homes, you need technology solutions that work for you, not against you. Every server issue, phone problem, or printer malfunction you experience costs your organization valuable time and resources that could be spent serving your customers. And this was precisely the situation that Caitlin Cacciatore and the team at House Call Doctors were in before finding Adam Spencer and his team at 911 IT. Now, their technology needs are completely looked after, allowing the House Call Doctors team to focus on delivering the best patient care possible while also looking ahead to the future of the organization.
Tech Troubles
House Call Doctors was first created in 2004 by Dr. Mark Cacciamani as a way to bring premier patient care directly to where it was needed—the patients’ homes. “In the beginning, the company was a small mom-and-pop-type business operating out of the home of our founder,” Caitlin begins. “But soon the practice began to expand rapidly, driven by high demand, and that’s when I joined the organization as the first employee in 2009.” She continues, “At the time, we were working with a gentleman who was supposed to be handling our IT, but he was unreliable, difficult to work with, and would take our computers to fix and then not come back for weeks. It was not a great situation, to say the least.”
Thankfully, with the transition out of Dr. Cacciamani’s living room and into a proper office came a new prospect. “We discovered 911 IT when we moved into our new office building,” Caitlin explains. “Adam’s dad, Kelly, owns Voice in a Cloud, and when they came to put our phone system in, we got talking about our other technology needs, and they recommended 911 IT. And it’s a good thing they did, because 911 IT has been integral to the growth and success of our organization since then.”
At first, Caitlin and her team at House Call Doctors would only contact Adam and 911 IT for break-fix computer solutions. That was, until about five years into the partnership when they landed a huge contract and needed help with specific security and compliance requirements. “We were given the opportunity to bring a new health plan on board, but they had this whole huge list of security questions, encryption, and all this stuff that they demanded to ensure the data was secure,” Caitlin recalls. “So we called 911 IT, and that’s when a new kind of pitch came in where Adam and his team outlined their worry-free IT package and all the extra stuff they could do for us.” She continues, “This process was definitely an eye-opener. There were a lot of things that we didn’t even know that we needed, but as soon as we heard it, we’re like, ‘How did we not do this before?’”
For example, one thing that 911 IT came in and helped House Call Doctors with immediately was their cybersecurity. Beyond helping them achieve compliance for the specific contract, they implemented data backup, zero trust, and multi- factor authentication solutions while also ensuring that employees are prompted to change their passwords regularly. “Adam and his team have really helped us implement a foolproof plan when it comes to the computers,” Caitlin notes. “I also know that they’re in the background running scans and doing checks to keep us secure, which gives me great peace of mind.”
An Incoming Clinic
With all of the day-to-day technology solutions handled, the House Call Doctors team has been able to focus on their next venture—expansion! “I’m excited to announce that House Call Doctors is relocating to a new building,” says Caitlin. “We’re still going to be providing in-home patient care, but now we’re also opening up a clinic where people can come in and see our doctors in-office. We just received so many phone calls from patients looking for primary care doctors that we thought, ‘Why don’t we help fill this gap?’” Regarding how Adam and his team will be helping with this next stage, Caitlin explains, “911 IT will be in charge of everything to do with tech, of course. They’ll be wiring our workstations, setting up printer locations, and ensuring that our Wi-Fi boosters send a strong signal throughout the office. They will also be setting up the TV in our conference room.”
Ultimately, the level of support that 911 IT has provided the House Call Doctors team has allowed them to grow their practice from the ground up—and they’re only just getting started. When asked about the overall partnership and what she would tell other business owners or decision makers who are trying to find a trusted IT partner, Caitlin states, “It’s cheesy, but it really is worry-free IT. I’m never worried about my staff calling in or that [we’re] going to accrue additional charges. And I’m certainly never concerned that our technology problems won’t be fixed. I know they will be, thanks to Adam and his team.”
By taking the IT piece out of the equation, Caitlin and her team at House Call Doctors are poised to continue serving the community in the best way they know how—by providing comprehensive primary care to patients at home (and soon enough, in clinic!).
